Two Dunoon Primary School pupils have been crowned winners of Oxfam Dunoon's Scrappy Couture Challenge after transforming sweet and crisp wrappers into a colourful school uniform design.

Theo and Adam, from LC4 at Dunoon Primary School, impressed voters with their imaginative "scrappy school uniform shirt", created entirely from recycled materials.

The pair collected sweet and crisp wrappers from fellow pupils, carefully cleaned them and used them to create front pockets for pencils, streamers inside the sleeves and a detachable tie. Scrap feathers added colour to the cuffs, while strips of floral paper napkins decorated the bottom of the shirt.

The competition, launched as part of Second Hand September, encouraged local people to explore the creative potential of second-hand and recycled materials. Theo and Adam's innovative design stood out for its originality and clever use of everyday waste, securing the top prize of a £10 voucher to spend in store.

Chris Ashley, Manager of Oxfam Dunoon, said: "Theo and Adam's design was packed with creativity and really captured the spirit of the challenge. They took everyday items that would normally be thrown away and transformed them into something fun, practical and completely unique.

"All of the entries were fantastic and it was brilliant to see children of all ages getting involved. The competition showed just how imaginative our community can be when it comes to giving materials a second life and thinking differently about waste."

The Scrappy Couture Challenge was launched to encourage people to explore the creative potential of second-hand and recycled materials while highlighting the environmental impact of fast fashion.

Theo and Adam's winning creation will now be displayed in Oxfam Dunoon, giving shoppers the chance to see the inventive design up close.
