Responding to the debate, Katherine May, Oxfam Scotland Advocacy Adviser, said: "As Scotland swelters and parts of the UK face life threatening levels of heat, people can see the climate crisis is no longer distant, it’s here.
“Done right, climate action can deliver warmer homes, better homes, good jobs and a greener, more prosperous Scotland.
“But if the Scottish Government is serious about a fair transition, it must move faster, accelerating plans to tax the most polluting behaviours like private jet usage, while backing the investments that cut emissions and costs. After years of targets without traction and promises without pace, this Scottish Parliament must end the era of climate drift, and deliver the action we all need.”
